Summary Description:

Coordinate, maintain, and direct the production activities of the Pulp Mill Areas. Create consistency and advocacy across all crews while closing the gaps in the areas of safety, production, quality, direct material usages and indirect spending.

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensures safety and environmental is a priority by communicating, participating, and supporting EH&S efforts while ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Establishes and executes short- and long-range objectives in the efficient production of Pulp from Recaust through the final product going to the Paper Machines.
  • Delegate supervisory responsibility for personnel and equipment to the appropriate resources.
  • Participates in coordinating production within current constraints.
    Reviews quality and cost of the production.
  • Assures adequate production standards are used and reports production data.
  • Coordinates repairs and maintenance. Establishes priorities for repair work and schedules shutdowns to optimize maintenance repairs.
  • Participates in Capital Projects planning and budgeting.
  • Communicates status and trends of production activities to other division management.
  • Ensures the practice of safety among all subordinates through constant training both formal and informal.
  • Ability to reach a conclusion using relevant information and data to determine the best course of action in a timeframe that is consistent with business requirements.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both union and management.
  • Keeps abreast of new technology in the competitive environment.
    Performs other projects and duties as assigned by the Fiberline Business Unit Manager.
  • Leads continuous improvement activities for the area.
Personal qualities

Required Experience and Education:

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, pulp and paper science, a related field OR the equivalent training and/or experience.
5+ years of pulp, power, or chemical recovery manufacturing experience.

Required Skills:

Minimum Required Skills:

Ability to make high-risk decisions under pressure is required (for situations such as production stoppages, or work affecting safety of personnel or equipment).
Excellent management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written, and verbal.
Ability to direct employees to meet stated objectives.

Preferred Skills:

* Demonstrated leadership skills.

* 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
