What you'll be doing...
As a Principal Engineer for Network Assurance, you will be responsible for delivering service assurance of complex networking solutions for our enterprise customers.

You're a technical expert with experience managing the network for multiple medium to large voice and contact center solutions and projects at once. You have strong technical hands-on experience with Cisco ACI fabric as well as ACME session border controllers, F5 load balancing, and traditional routing and switching networking experience to perform complex troubleshooting of enterprise networks, guide and advise through design and implementation phases, and provide advanced support for all the infrastructure that supports intelligent call routing, contact center operations, data center, and voice networks. You react quickly and accurately to investigate network issues and work on the implementation of interim and permanent solutions, working with project managers, professional services and other Managed Services organizations.

You will work both individually and as a part of a project team, creating clarity and removing barriers. The position is collaborative in nature, and will depend on your creativity and technical acumen to make decisions that impact complex projects and other staff members and stakeholders across the organization.

In this role you will...

  • Manage and maintain multi-vendor routing and switching solutions (in multiple datacenters).

  • Support traditional IP network routing and switching technologies in addition to Cisco ACI fabric.

  • Manage/operate F5 load balancers.

  • Manage/operate (Oracle) ACME SBCs.

  • Optimize network performance and availability,

  • Drive operational incident management at an escalated level.

  • Act as the final escalation point to support production service issues in concert with application, operational, and triage teams.

  • Review ACL/Firewall changes and partner with the Security team for execution.

  • Troubleshoot network performance issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of voice and contact center solutions.

  • Lead multi-team collaboration meetings as required to resolve issues in the network.

  • Lead engagement with equipment repair teams as required, creating new processes, or addressing changes to the network.

  • Apply patches to devices for firmware and OS upgrades.

  • Analyze network capacity to anticipate future needs.

  • Identifying key areas of improvements and ideation around how to improve the performance, monitoring, reaction and resolution.

  • Develop/maintain network documentation: diagrams, configuration, and runbooks

  • Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and domain mentorship to Tier-2 teams

  • Successfully communicate technical concepts to internal and external customers.

  • Operate within a structured change and incident management model including case management tools.

  • Support and implement changes during scheduled maintenance windows (Off hrs).

  • Plan, test, and implement network changes. Communicate with stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with developers, engineers and managers to understand and define requirements, prioritize requests, and evaluate risk.

  • Engage additional teams as needed working across organizational boundaries to solve problems.

  • Stay current with industry trends, and emerging technology.

  • Ideation of automation opportunities within selected frameworks.

  • Interfacing with project teams to ensure critical deliverables are met on time.

Where you'll be working...
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location of either Cary, North Carolina or Ashburn, Virginia that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have...

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in an enterprise networking position

  • Four or more years of experience with Cisco ACI fabric

  • Six or more years of experience with IP Network routing, switching, ACME SBC, Voice Networking, and F5 Load balancing.

  • Experience in large scale IP networking technologies, virtualization solutions, protocols, and services (ex. BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VxLAN, IPSEC, DNS).

  • Experience with Network Performance tools (Wireshark, NetScout,...)

  • Experience leading and driving projects to completion and balance multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Experience communicating complex information clearly and concisely to peers, leaders, and customers.

  • Experience leading technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.

  • Experience working both independently and in diverse teams.

  • Experience navigating Windows and Linux operating environments.

  • Must have, or be eligible to qualify for, a U.S. government security clearance at the Public Trust level

  • Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation every other week, working some evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical field i.e. engineering, telecommunications, computer science

  • Industry certifications, i.e. ITILv4, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE
