Plan, organize, and manage staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the organization's storage, backup, and virtualization systems. Develop, maintain, and support key functional areas, particularly ransomware recovery, hardware lifecycle, resource management, capacity planning, and vendor management. Manage activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirement.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for Virtual & Storage Systems (VSS) administration and project management.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate testing of the organization's Ransomware Recovery plan.
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all VSS procurement and development efforts.
  • Establish service-level agreements with business units.
  • Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for VSS projects and associated efforts.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of VSS security measures.
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all VSS systems, including storage, backups, servers, SAN, and hypervisors.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
  • Test storage/server performance and provide performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining storage/server infrastructure.
  • Manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base.
  • Provide updates regarding pertinent VSS activities to the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users.
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
  • Manage a contingent of VSS administrators and engineers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Minimum Skills & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Certifications in storage, backups, servers, hypervisors, and ransomware recovery preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Five or more years supporting IaaS in private or hybrid cloud.
  • Experience leading an infrastructure team preferred.
  • Conversant with programming languages such as PowerShell and Python preferred.
  • Application support experience with VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, and Dell solutions preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware.
  • Knowledge of current storage protocols and standards, including CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, and FC.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
