Hear more from our team members about why UnityPoint Health is a great place to work at https://dayinthelife.unitypoint.org Overview RN- Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Full-time, 40 hours per week 7:30am-4:00pm The Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab nurse works along side physicians and team to facilitate the patient's treatment plan while attending either Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab. Nurses will serve as advocates for the patient and their families by providing meaningful psychosocial support. Nurses will collaborate with physicians and patients to plan and carry out the exercise and education plan agreed to by patient and physician. Responsibilities Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of adult and geriatric patients. * Evaluates patients' and significant others' educational needs, initiates and implements appropriate teaching or makes appropriate referrals. * Develops and maintains, with patient/significant other, an individualized, professionally modified plan of care reflective of changing needs/goals as determined by evaluating the young/middle/mature adult patient/significant other response to the plan of care. * Initiates patient discharge planning at time of patient admission and continues plan through patient discharge. * Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and the young/middle/mature adult patient plan of care. * Documents nursing care consistent with documentation guidelines. * Communicates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. * Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining an awareness of resource utilization. * Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, clinical performance improvement activities, standards development and review, department meetings and in-services, hospital/unit committees and other related activities. * Demonstrates positive customer relation skills. * Coordinates the effective management of emergencies arising from cardiac arrhythmia and/or arrest and other medical conditions that occur in cardiac/pulmonary rehab and non-invasive diagnostic cardiac testing. * Demonstrates knowledge and desire of cost-containment maintaining supply inventory at appropriate levels. * Provides procedure nurse duties for Cardiovascular Lab testing. Qualifications Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelors' Degree in Nursing preferred. Refer to BSN Employee Voluntary Agreement. Experience: One year medical/surgical or telemetry experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to delegate wisely, exercise good judgment, maintain interpersonal relationships, adapt to change, evaluate critically, think creatively and implement planned change in a positive manner. Possesses integrity, initiative and flexibility. Public speaking ability. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate primarily to young/middle/mature adult patients. Completion of unit orientation and unit-specific competencies. Ability to present information and respond to questions from patients, their families, physicians and other health professionals with understanding and tact. Other: Electronic and mechanical patient care equipment in assigned area, office equipment, medications including therapeutic gases, audiovisual equipment, hospital computer system.
