Assistant Manager, Payroll- NOAM Region

The dedicated Assistant Payroll Manager will manage a team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 50,000 employees across North America (NOAM) - U.S., Canada, and Caribbean. This role involves overseeing a payroll team, resolving complex payroll issues, manage end to end processes, and maintaining compliance with all government reporting requirements. The Assistant Payroll Manager will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to foster relationships with key business partners. Additionally, this role requires staying updated on legal requirements and driving process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. The Assistant Payroll Manager will also develop, implement, update, and monitor internal controls over NOAM's payroll processes to ensure financial data accuracy, asset protection, and employee data privacy.

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS



  1. Ensure our internal team makes accurate and timely preparation of earnings statements and payment of wages for 50,000+ employees and meet all government reporting requirements related to earnings, deductions and taxes.
  2. Assist the Sr Manager in resolving complex payroll issues escalated above the payroll staff level.
  3. Monitors and reports process performance against KPIs
  4. Partnering with regional HR/HRSS and accounting/finance staff responsible for harmonizing and streamlining pay policies and procedures linked to timekeeping, payroll processing and subsequent governmental reporting and filing requirements.
  5. Build and foster "customer" relationships with key business partners, both internal and external.
  6. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and NOAM government reporting regulations affecting Payroll, Earnings, Deductions and Tax
  7. Support integration activities related to payroll in migration, acquisitions and divestiture events for NOAM.
  8. Drive process improvement initiatives by driving best practices, creating, and updating standard operating procedures.
  9. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of payroll professionals, providing training and identifying development opportunities while ensuring compliance with SOX controls and governmental regulations.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


Preferred:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related business administration


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • 5-10+ years of North America payroll experience
  • Significant experience with knowledge of all aspects of payroll processes and related systems, including garnishments, benefits, taxes, time & attendance collection for multiple countries (regional exposure).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, provide direction, and lead a team toward goal achievement.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and re-engineer processes.
  • Organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to shift priorities.
  • Capability to synthesize and analyze information quickly and make informed decisions.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.


Preferred:



  • Project management experience
  • Ceridian Dayforce system experience
  • Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Experience working for a global and diverse company


TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:



  • A demonstrated understanding of all aspects of payroll processes and related systems; including, but not limited to, benefits, taxes, and time and attendance collection.
  • The ability to review regulatory publications, understand technical terminology and easily determine the effect pending and/or newly enacted legislation will have on current Department procedures.
  • Analytical reporting and excel skills
