Department:ACHI | Arkansas Ctr for Health ImprovementDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Director (Chief of Staff for the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement or ACHI) position provides a liaison and buffer between a chief executive officer and that executive's direct-reporting team. The chief of staff generally works behind the scenes to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they are brought to the President and CEO. Often the Senior Director acts as a confidante and advisor to the CEO, acting as a sounding board for ideas. Ultimately the actual duties depend on the position and the people involved will work closely with the CEO to ensure that the CEO is concentrating time and effort on strategic activities vital to the stability and sustainability of the organization. The Senior Director is an integral part of the ACHI leadership team, assisting in the creation of efficient and effective operational plans for projects within the organization's core business areas: operations, policy analysis and communications, data architecture, research & evaluation, and program development and management. The Senior Director will oversee the planning for and integration of new projects as well as participate, in conjunction with other directors, in the oversight of existing projects to ensure that objectives and timelines are met. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day activities by supporting the President and CEO in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of ACHI, providing resource management leadership, building organizational capacity, as well as operating as a catalyst for cross-functional learning.The ideal candidate will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands. S/He must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the President and CEO, staff, and other external constituencies in matters related to operations. S/He must exhibit the skills necessary to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading a performance-based and outcome-based program and staff. S/He will have developed and operationalized strategies and have experience in managing a "values-driven" organization. Team Building and Development: The successful candidate will have recruited, managed, and developed a strong team of staff, program/project managers, and professionals. Exceptional Communication Skills: The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills. S/He will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must have worked collaboratively with internal and external partners. General Management: S/He will have a thorough understanding of finance, administration systems, and HR; broad experience including strategic development and planning, budgeting, finance, information systems, human resources, and product development and dissemination. Operational experience: The successful candidate ideally will have worked in a senior management role for 10+ years in a health or health care oriented organization with progressive experience leading to at least 3 years' experience in operational/administrative management.
