Job Summary Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Locksmith Sr. Facilities Technician. This position performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to enable proper operation of buildings, utilities, equipment, grounds and facilities. The Locksmith Sr. Facilities Technician will be responsible for general maintenance and installation of a variety of access control devices in existing facilities, new construction, and remodeling projects. This role will also perform the general maintenance necessary for installation of door hardware including rim exit devices, mortises, cam locks, door operators, ADA door operators, latches, other door related hardware, door locks, keys and cylinders. This position plays a key role in keeping the SCC campus safe and functional. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus. Essential Functions 30% - Installs, programs, and maintains a variety of access control devices in existing facilities, new construction, and remodeling projects; installs and repairs locks on furniture and cabinets; maintains electronic access control systems for access and exit control, components, and hardware; adjusts, maintains, repairs, and replaces door locks, padlocks, tumbler locks, combination locks, and various other lock hardware such as panic bars, door checks, latches, catches, fasteners, and door closures; designs and maintains master key systems which include sub-masters and single keys; utilizing code systems and code machines. 30% - Changes lock combinations with ability to insert new or repaired tumblers into locks to change combinations; operates key-cutting machines, using impressions or codes to cut new or duplicate keys; disassembles mechanical or electrical locking devices such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts; uses key coding software for re-pinning interchangeable cores; opens or removes locks that cannot be opened by ordinary means, usually by moving pin locks in cylinders. Removes broken keys and repairs malfunctioning locks; maintains records of lock and key inventories as assigned . 20% - Works with college staff in devising systems to prevent break-ins and pilferage; safely operates hand and power tools and equipment used in the locksmithing trade, including lathe, drill press, and other power tools in forming parts for locks, lock hardware, and/or safes; assists in preparing routine reports and material lists, estimating job costs, preparing job records, and making surveys of locksmith needs; maintains and orders parts and supplies as needed. 20% - Performs the carpentry and general maintenance necessary for lock installations; assists, monitors, maintains, and performs more complex building maintenance repairs involving mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and energy management systems; investigates repair issues and obtains trades services if necessary; coordinates and oversees work performed by external vendors; assists trades workers on major projects; addresses safety issues such as electrical and plumbing, mechanical project and roofing issues; assists with plumbing and/or electrical repairs not requiring the services of licensed trade personnel; retrieves information and enters/updates information in reports, logs or other documentation/record-keeping systems via department CMMS; responds to requests and complaints from work order system or emergency calls, and handles more complex complaints not resolved at a lower level; adheres to and ensures compliance with applicable policies and procedures; keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working condition; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of combined work experience in the locksmithing trade and/or working with electronic access control systems. Successful completion of a two (2) year apprenticeship program in the locksmithing trade may satisfy the work experience requirement. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Special Requirements Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D) Desired Qualifications A. Work experience in the locksmithing trade and/or working with electronic access control systems. B. Experience working with " Keystone" key management software. C. Experience working with any key management software. D. Experience working with Computer Managed Maintenance Software (CMMS). E. Experience with general building maintenance. F.
