Job Summary South Mountain Community College is hiring a TRiO Upward Bound Project Director (Student Services Manager). The Project Director oversees all aspects of the department and successful implementation of the grant project. This role will be a champion for student, employee and college needs and should enjoy working in a collaborative, high performing environment. As a strengths-based institution, we are dedicated to helping you determine and understand your own personal strengths, and will help you maximize them in the pursuit of your educational and career goals. https://www.southmountaincc.edu/about Essential Functions 40% - Execute the administrative authority and visionary leadership for TRIO Upward Bound (UB) to achieve the goals of the grant and ensure alignment to South Mountain's Strategic Plan. Develops, plans, and implements UB initiatives and objectives to ensure a comprehensive academic and support services program. Ensures regulatory compliance in all aspects of the grant including the development, analysis and submission of required reports and communication to the U.S. Department of Education. Approve and monitor all TRiO budget expenditures; complete internal budget and fiscal accountability reports; ensure proper administration of program funds, project spending is on track, and is compliant with the approved grant budget.. 20% - Maintain evaluation procedures to assess the progress of students by keeping accurate files and maintaining progress reports. Oversees key services to develop students in the following areas: career exploration, personal growth, life skills, and college entrance and success. Manages the staff conducting program orientations and workshops and any volunteer activities and supports staff in maintaining a case management approach to enhance UB 20% - Recruit, train, and supervise project staff. Leads regular meetings with TRIO UB project staff; schedule meetings with the Project Administrator and the Grants Office to discuss challenges or concerns; 10% - Assign program participants to tutors, academic support, and instruction; maintain a cooperative relationship with the campus and target area; promote campus and community outreach activities. 10% - Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of progressively responsible student services or related experience that includes such things as administration of policies and procedures, program oversight and two (2) years of supervisory experience. Desired Qualifications A. Master's Degree required from an accredited institution of higher education in education, business or public administration, social work, psychology, or related area. B. Two (2) or more years of work experience with the U.S. Department of Education regulations and TRIO program policies OR similar student success/retention program with similar policies and regulations assisting underrepresented students in an educational setting. C. Two (2) or more years of project management experience including budget management. D. Experience directing program activities, specifically related to student development in an educational setting. E. Experience with student services including advisement, enrollment, and/or financial aid. F. Experience working with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and programs in a higher educational setting. G. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
