Position Title: Chef Manager - Jenkintown, PA

Salary: $60,000-$70,000/yr.

Job Summary

We are seeking a growth-minded and dynamic Chef Manager to lead the culinary and food service operations for a healthcare account in Jenkintown, PA. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the food service department, ensuring high-quality, nutritious meals are provided to residents while maintaining operational efficiency and cost control. You will be responsible for preparing three meals a day, Monday through Friday, and one meal a day on Saturdays and Sundays. Flexibility is required as weekends may be part of the work schedule. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all culinary operations, including menu development, meal preparation, and service delivery. Oversee food service team operations to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
  • Responsible for preparing and serving three meals a day, Monday through Friday, and one meal a day on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Flexibility to work weekends is a key requirement.
  • Handle all aspects of inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking food supplies. Maintain accurate records and ensure cost controls and waste reduction strategies are implemented effectively.
  • Manage the food service budget and ensure P&L accountability. Oversee purchasing and inventory with a focus on optimizing food cost controls, portion management, and minimizing waste.
  • Emphasize sourcing local, fresh ingredients whenever possible. Develop relationships with local suppliers to ensure quality, sustainability, and competitive pricing.
  • Foster a culture of sustainability, ensuring that practices such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly sourcing are prioritized throughout the operation.
  • Lead and mentor a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain high performance standards. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Ensure that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are strictly followed, including compliance with HACCP standards. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times.
  • Utilize your experience in exposition cooking to enhance meal presentation and provide engaging culinary experiences for residents and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety protocols.
  • At least 3 years of culinary management experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with inventory management, purchasing, and cost control.
  • Extensive knowledge of food trends, catering, quality food production, sanitation, food cost controls, and meal presentation.
  • Experience with high-volume exposition or live cooking preferred.
  • Previous experience with P&L accountability and contract-managed services is a plus.
  • ServSafe certification (or equivalent food safety training) is highly preferred.
