go.uams.edu/RED Summary of Job Duties:Research Associate II will work in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine, Research and Evaluation Division and is responsible for advancing the work of project deliverables in early childhood mental health access policy and implementation. This will include determining the needs and availability of mental health resources in identified geographies within Arkansas. The position will report to the Director of Research and Principal Investigator(s). The Research Associate II will promote project activities in the community, engage stakeholders to understand impact of the project work, and create supportive services links in the community to support early childhood education with mental health systems. Travel in Central Arkansas will be required bi-monthly. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of experience in mental health systems, community research, education, planning, public health, early childhood programs, or related field required.

  • Arkansas Driver's License and ability to travel within AR and outside for trainings and project meetings as needed.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs

  • At least 3 years in early childhood mental health, mental health administration, or mental health policy work preferred.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Investigates current mental health service capacity in the target community and explores potential expansion in dyadic mental health services.
  • Identifies gaps in services and makes resource connections within identified geographies.

  • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with intervention development based on research literature and needs assessment findings aimed at improving service capacity and access to services.

  • Develops reports for the Project Director, Evaluator, and the project funders. The person in this position must exhibit a high level of problem-solving ability, responsibility, integrity and independence.

  • Assist with coordination/liaison with the PI, independent evaluator(s), research assistants and community partners (practitioners and state agencies) and utilize evaluation feedback to make recommendations to the PI to offer solutions for increased capacity and access to early childhood mental health intervention. Develops project-specific training materials and processes for use on-line or via face-to-face trainings in locations across the state.

  • Assist with ongoing problem solving for community-based partners.

  • Delivers training sessions for conferences or virtual presentations as needed to achieve project goals.

  • Serves as member of project management teams and attends project, interagency and other meetings as necessary.

  • Communicates and works with a diverse range of project and provider staff members in a professional way.

  • Ensure purchasing expenses are submitted to departmental personnel according to UAMS standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
