Description

Atlantic Union's Enterprise Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.

Atlantic Union's Corporate Assurance & Advisory Services (CAAS) Intern Program is designed to provide college students an introduction into internal audit and risk management concepts. It is our intent to give the Intern real assignments. Assignments that stretch the Intern, provide the Intern with valuable experience, and allow the Intern to contribute to the CAAS Department.

The Intern is provided assignments that include the entire internal audit process that would typically be assigned to a staff auditor. The intern will also get the opportunity to observe and assist in the following audit processes:



  • Audit engagement planning,
  • Design and execute design and effectiveness tests over internal processes and controls,
  • Audit engagement reporting and wrap-up,
  • Data analysis and visualization exercises,
  • Conduct remediation test procedures, and
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) / Internal Controls over Financial Reporting test work.


Organizational Relationship

This position reports to an Assistant Director of Internal Audit and has a hybrid-Innslake residency.

Position Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Position Requirements



  • Must be at least 18 years' old
  • Currently pursuing a degree in business with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Technology, general Business Administration, or similar areas
  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday
  • Must submit a resume and cover letter highlighting accomplishments, professional and academic goals, and expectations of this internship position
  • Submission of transcripts and two professional or academic references
