This position will be based in Tampa, FLand requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

Join Our Team as a Business Development Manager - Retail at Gallo!

We are looking for a dedicated and results-driven individual to execute sales plans and maximize revenue in assigned states. As the Gallo brand representative for retail accounts and distributors, you will manage product sales through the distributor sales network, maintaining strong business relationships and employing effective selling techniques to increase sales of Gallo products.

In this role, you will be accountable for the development and execution of field pricing, strategically focusing your time on the biggest opportunities to maximize sales and grow Gallo brands. You will recognize changes in market dynamics and reallocate time and resources accordingly. Working closely with distributor management, you will ensure the execution of annual sales plans, evaluate market conditions, and hold sales managers accountable for the implementation of Gallo programs.

Your responsibilities will include negotiating monthly objectives and sales incentives with distributor leadership, overseeing the implementation of national promotions, and participating in the development of pricing and forecasting plans. You will conduct sales training for distributor sales forces and account staff, lead product tastings, and make sales calls to key retail accounts.

As a Business Development Manager - Retail you will gather and analyze market intelligence, establish objectives and priorities, and promote positive working relationships across the organization and distributor network. You will coordinate activities with other winery support areas and control business expenses for your assigned state(s). Additionally, you will support the commercialization of digital marketing programs and leverage technology to monitor performance and identify opportunities.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What You Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Portfolio Consultant, Business Development Manager, Program Manager Sales-LDP, Business Intelligence Manager or Account Manager 2; OR Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of external alcohol sales experience to include retail experience.
  • Direct managerial/supervisory experience with sales, retail, or on-premise employees (e.g. District Manager, Area Manager, State Manager, Field Marketing manager, etc.)
  • Experience with selling or marketing Gallo products.

Compensation:

  • Hiring salary range posted: $109,620 - $182,600 / year
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
