About the unit Taylor is a 22 bed Emergency Center and Level IV Trauma Center. Our Emergency Center services a diverse patient population from both Oakland, Monroe, and Wayne County. Our leadership model is Servant Leadership. We base all actions for patients and staff on two primary goals: Treat everyone with respect and dignity and to Treat others as we would want to be treated. The Taylor EC has self- scheduling and an engaged staff that is empowered to make changes. Additionally, we value strong collaboration with our providers and ancillary departments. About Taylor Hospital A Magnet-designated hospital that is a recognized health care leader serving the area since 1977. It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography). Scope of work Under supervision of the professional registered nurse and in accordance with competencies established, supports the provision of nursing care by performing patient care tasks as delegated within the Emergency Department. Performs routine bedside nursing activities including ambulating, moving and turning patients, assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices, making patient beds. Responsible for bagging and labeling all patient belongings and completing the patient property record on all admitted patients. Performs higher level of patient care tasks as prescribed by established competencies, and as delegated by the supervising professional Registered Nurse in accordance with departmental policies and procedures which includes starting saline locks, simple suture removal (excluding face or complex lacerations) splinting, phlebotomy which includes (children draws over the age of 2), vital sign measurement, records intake and output and restraint application. Optional identity theft protection, home and auto insurance, pet insurance Traditional and Roth retirement options with service contribution and match savings Free onsite parking Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent Requires a minimum six months' exhibited performance as a nursing assistant or other inpatient care giver experience, paramedic, EMT, urgent care caregiver experience, a Nursing Student (preferred completion of a Medical Surgical rotation) or EMT/Paramedic student or program graduate. BLS required Requires successful completion of established competencies by the Emergency Department Leadership and Emergency Department Education Specialist. EMT license preferred.
