Summary of Job Duties:Responsible for teaching courses in his/her given subject area for two federally funded educational opportunity programs for high school students. Instructor will participate as a team member to ensure that the Upward Bound Summer Academy is a student-centered environment that serves to promote academic and personal success among students. The goal of the Upward Bound Summer Academy is to prepare students for the next academic year. The position reports to the Assistant Director of the Upward Bound Programs. Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree and high school teacher licensure in subject area or a master's degree and prior teaching experience is required. Expertise in one or more of the following subject areas is required: English, literature, history, foreign language (Spanish or other), computer related classes, math (geometry, algebra II, algebra III, and trigonometry/pre-calculus), science (biology, chemistry and physics), career planning, oral communications, drama, art, music, physical education, journalism, graphic design, health, personal skills, career exploration, or ACT preparation.

Preference given to individuals who are former Upward Bound participants or who have overcome barriers similar to target population and/or experience working with diverse populations.
