Job Summary:

The Floating Safety Monitor flexibly meets short-term needs due to the absence of regular staff and/or unexpected occurrences, promoting a safe and inclusive environment. In support of the Bay Cove mission, the monitor acts to provide a welcoming environment, while assisting staff and visitors to address their needs safely and efficiently.

This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions of the Position:




  • Flexibly respond to temporary needs for coverage in one of Bay Cove's many physical locations as directed by the supervisor



  • Actively greet those entering Bay Cove sites, enhancing their feelings of welcomeness and safety



  • Assist those in agency settings to easily locate and arrive at their intended destinations



  • Maintain awareness that those who access Bay Cove sites have a legitimate reason for doing so



  • Move throughout and monitor conditions in the locations where services and administrative support are provided, as directed on a regular and frequent basis



  • Communicate with agency staff regarding routine and emergent activities in the setting in a professional manner and respond promptly and satisfactorily



  • Document routine and unexpected events in a format provided by the agency



  • Collaborate with staff to address safety concerns and effectively address them as part of a team



  • As needed, assist in supporting individuals who would benefit from intervention including de-escalation and other approaches to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all involved



  • Coordinate with public safety services as needed, assisting them in attending to situations for which their assistance has been requested



  • Maintain and model professional relationships and boundaries with those receiving services



  • Serve as a community diplomate and represent Bay Cove Human Services as a good neighbor and responsive community partner



  • Evening hours may be required as needed




Job Requirements:




  • High school diploma or GED



  • Experience working with vulnerable populations



  • Experience with de-escalation techniques or crisis interventions preferred



  • Ability to move up to 25 pounds



  • Specific visual abilities required include close vision and peripheral vision



  • Regularly required to stand, walk and talk and hear



  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and assist with operating the wheelchair lift.




Bay Cove Human Services does not offer visa sponsorships at this time and will require candidates to be authorized to work in the United States.
