Position Summary

The UNM Department of Fine Arts, Film and Digital Media Arts invites applicants to apply for a Temporary Part-Time Faculty (Adjunct) member to teach the following subject area for Fall 2025. This posting is primarily for face-to-face instruction and potentially some remote delivery of the course.

Positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. The specific course includes, but is not limited to, the following:
FDMA 2620 Directing 1 (3 credits) Introduction to the creative process of a film director. Students will participate in hands-on workshops and develop stories for motion media, create screenplays and work with actors in short scenes using current technologies in film, television and web-based media production. All training and learning outcomes are geared towards the skills necessary to work as a professional media maker. This course leads to an Associate Degree in Film and Digital Media Arts.
We propose a base salary of $1,017.60 to $1,100.63 per credit hour depending on successful candidates' qualifications. This posting is for both face to face and remote delivery of courses.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: to teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:
  • Master's degree in the discipline or subfield; or
  • Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield; or
  • Ability to demonstrate tested experience that the Fine Arts and Digital Media Department has determined to be equivalent to a Master's degree in the discipline or subfield.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Expertise in multi-media production, filmmaking, animation, and how to operate a studio full of gear, students and guests
  • Expertise in the three stages of production
