This position will work 40% remotely from home.

Job Overview:

The Tennessee Military Department is currently accepting resumes for the position of Emergency Management Administrator 1 to serve as the Faith-Based Organizations Partnerships Manager for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA). This position will serve as the Agency's main point of contact for faith-based organizations, including houses of worship. The Faith-Based Partnerships Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for strengthening TEMA's relationships with communities of all faiths and denominations and assisting houses of worship in the preparation for, response to, and recovery from disasters.

The selected candidate will report to the Intergovernmental Relations Manager within TEMA's Administration & Mission Support Division. The individual must have the ability to establish and implement a strategic vision while applying a supporting process to building a resilient community or organization. This individual must be able to engage core stakeholders in the process while also applying certain technical knowledge toward finding solutions to meet organizational goals. This person must have the ability to manage both human and financial resources to accomplish a more resilient organization, state, and faith community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as TEMA's primary contact for state and local faith-based organizations.
  • Serve as TEMA's central coordinating point for integrating faith-based organizations into state emergency operations, to include preparedness and readiness, mitigation and resilience, and response and recovery phases.
  • Build and manage relationships with an array of faith-based groups from all faiths and denominations.
  • Provide, coordinate, or share information on trainings to promote best practices in resilience and to encourage partnerships with these groups.
  • As needed and in coordination with the Communications Director, develop educational materials and resources for faith-based organizations on best practices in emergency preparedness and mitigation and resources available to them.
  • Work with county emergency managers and elected leaders to convene faith-based stakeholders to support the planning, development, policy and procedures necessary for maintaining recovery, and sustainment of Long-Term Recovery Groups (LTRG) within Tennessee counties.
  • Work with faith-based organizations to increase their readiness to provide aid during and after disasters.
  • In coordination with the Non-Governmental Partnerships Manager, integrate faith-based voluntary and nonprofit organizations into the disaster response apparatus.
  • Be prepared to report to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) as requested in support of an activation for real world events or planned exercises, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned relevant to carrying out TEMA's overarching mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to five (5) years of full-time experience in emergency management work, including but not limited to, response and recovery, planning, programs, operations, preparedness, or mitigation, and/or faith-based organizations, including but not limited to those active in the disaster response space.

Experience equivalent to nine (9) years of full-time experience in emergency management work, including but not limited to, response and recovery, planning, programs, operations, preparedness, or mitigation, and/or faith-based organizations, including but not limited to those active in the disaster response space
