Job Description

Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking a Senior Technical Lead, Simulation & Visualization to drive the development of varying fidelity simulation and visualization capabilities for the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) at Detroit Arsenal, Warren, MI. The candidate must have experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and an understanding of 3D modeling, Unreal Engine (UE) integration, and real-time physics-based simulation with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environments. This role requires close collaboration with developers, artists, and customers to create high-quality simulation products. Previous experience in a DoD environment is a plus but not required. This position is on-site daily at the Torch Technologies office in Sterling Heights, MI.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:



  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and artists in UE and Extended Reality (XR) based development.
  • Oversee 3D modeling, real-time physics simulation, and hardware/software integration.
  • Guide best practices in UE, C++ development, and model integration.
  • Support product development processes, including scope definition, scheduling, and requirement management.
  • Collaborate with developers, artists, and stakeholders to create innovative simulation solutions.
  • Utilize and support source control repositories such as Git and GitLab.
  • Engage with GVSC, DoD partners, and industry experts to define simulation strategies and requirements.
  • Establish and lead technical reviews, innovation discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.


Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of experience in simulation, visualization, or military system development, orBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 12 years of experience in simulation, visualization, or military system development.
  • Expertise in UE, real-time physics, and immersive visualization.
  • Strong knowledge of HWIL, SIL, and XR integration.
  • Experience with DoD-funded programs and military applications is highly desirable.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
