Overview

As a Buyer at MEC Outdoors, you will manage total supply chain from procuring materials, scheduling production including outside services, and formalizing shipment schedules to meet the customer requirements utilizing EDI forecast and customer orders. Locates, selects and acts to continuously improve the performance of suppliers so that MEC's supplier base as a whole is an ever greater asset to MEC's profitability and growth.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management by managing on time delivery, cost, service level, and quality. This includes maintaining accurate procurement records for purchase orders, price files, scorecard management for performance and quality, forecasting, and business reviews.
  • Manage the supplier source selection of existing and new product by quoting, testing, and completing fair market analysis.
  • Reviews and evaluates forecast received via EDI, fax, mail, ect. Implements/revises schedules and issues work orders to suit order demand, changes, cancellations and/or revised forecasts.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to maintain inventory at optimal levels and meet production schedules
  • Reviews and maintains master data (item master, BOMs, kanban quantities, planning parameters ) integrity of assigned product line(s) to ensure level production load while identifying constraints
  • Researches late parts, identifies and brings bottlenecks to manufactures attention as well as communicates with customers in the event of failures to meet shipment schedule and provide solution to avoid customer line down situations.
  • Conduct inventory obsolescence reviews and develop strategies to minimize excess and obsolete stock while maintaining levels of stock appropriate for business demand.
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Approves invoices for payment.
  • Works with Engineering to implement engineering changes by reviewing bill of material and impact.


Qualifications

At least an Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering knowledge and negotiation skills are important. CPM certification is a plus.
