Job Summary We are seeking an Assistant Bridge Inspector to join TYLin's Bridge Sector. This position will report to the Principal Bridge. In this role you will be responsible for assisting inspection teams, writing reports, conducting load ratings, creating Maintenance of Traffic plans, operating equipment, performing nondestructive testing, and preparing related documents. This position has a dynamic schedule, including a mix of daytime field and office work and occasional nighttime field work. The work environment consists of a mix of on-site field and office/work-from-home. Within a team atmosphere we plan to foster your knowledge and get you prepared and well-placed to learn and grow! Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Perform DOT routine bridge inspections and lead inspection teams.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis for the load rating of bridges.
  • Familiarize him/herself/themselfwith engineering plans and details.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Assist with project monitoring and scheduling.
  • Assist progress reports.
  • Assist develop production work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Other assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0 - 5 years of experience in bridge inspection and design.
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification desired
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Safety inspector preferred. Taken the 2-week FHWA/NHI Bridge Safety Inspection courses preferred.
  • Bridge Load Rating Experience is a plus.
  • Safety conscious and will be responsible for their personal safety and the safety of their fellow team members
  • Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
