The department of Athletics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator for Football. About the Opportunity This position will report directly to the General Manager of Football and indirectly to the Assistant Athletics Director/Football Management and Strategy; must also work closely with all others involved with carrying out the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program. What You'll Do
- Manage logistical planning of on-campus official and unofficial recruiting visits by prospective student-athletes. Coordinate transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, tours, game tickets and game day recruiting functions. Provide guidance and information surrounding West Virginia University and the athletics department.
- Supervise the On-Campus Recruiting Assistant and other support staff (hosts/hostesses, tour guides, etc.).
- Event planning, including but not limited to official visits, unofficial visits/Junior Days, game day, donor functions, camps, and other special events.
- Coordinate with football coaches and staff on prospective student-athletes' visits, including the messaging the names of guests and their relationship.
- Organize and execute the recruiting communication plan.
- Communicate special events/occasions, including but not limited to recruit birthdays and holidays. Coordinate and provide campus tours to recruits, answering all questions for prospective student-athletes.
- Manage football/recruiting mass communications, including but not limited to mailings, emails, etc., working in collaboration with the graphic designer and recruiting staff.
- Assist with the maintenance of the Jump Forward recruiting database.
- Coordinate select meal planning, including meals at the Head Coach's house, preseason camp, staff retreat, etc.
- Support Director of Football Operations with away game travel, including the travel party, bus list, room list, entertainment, police escort, and all aspects of the hotel (room set-up, walk-thru, security, etc.)
- Coordinate room list, banquet event orders, and other operational items for home games. Manage calendar and birthday notifications for staff and players on Teamworks.
- Primary contact for current player parent/guardian communication. Serve on the 5th Quarter program leadership committee.
- Serve as a liaison with the Athletic Compliance Office. Maintain regular communication with athletic compliance staff regarding all prospects, official and unofficial visits, admission requests and clearances. Compile necessary written documentation for prospective student-athlete identifications, official and unofficial visits, contacts and evaluation for the Athletic Compliance Office. Assist the Athletic Compliance Office with the administration of applicable recruiting software to effectively monitor recruiting.
- Secure and maintain transcripts of prospective student-athletes for official and unofficial visits. Maintain and secure NCAA Eligibility Center records of prospects.
- Assist with the recruitment of prospective football student-athletes. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with the coordination of in-person recruiting visits, recruiting targets and recruiting commitments, and updating the coaching staff on recruiting issues.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the General Manager for Football, Assistant Athletics Director/Football Management and Strategy, Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations and/or Head Football Coach.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines of West Virginia University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA; must adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11.1 Conduct of Athletic Personnel. Failure to adhere to these policies will result in appropriate disciplinary action including possible suspension and termination.

- Represent the University on the highest professional level with dignity, integrity, and strength of character and will exhibit ethical behavior; must respect the rights and dignity of individuals with sensitivity to problems that may arise from racial and ethnical differences.
- Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports within the intercollegiate athletic program.
- Possess the ability to adapt to any situation, make decisions and work independently; position must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff members and constituencies; required to use creative abilities to develop new techniques and approaches in dealing with many issues controlled by this position; responsibilities of the position are ever-changing and require constant education; requires the ability to adapt to any situation and make decisions.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, coaches and staff utilizing discretion and correct decisions. Failure to use proper discretion at required level could result in major and significant embarrassment to the University and/or have a significant impact on image, revenues and eligibility of student- athletes.
- Manage professional and personal time to be handle time sensitive-issues, tight deadlines, extended hours beyond the normal workday, weekend work, regular travel in-season and on-call availability.
- Faithfully and diligently execute related duties of the department, as requested or assigned by the General Manager for Football, Assistant Athletics Director/Football Management and Strategy, Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations and/or Head Football Coach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in sports administration, athletic coaching or similar field, is required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving:
- Sports administration, preferably in recruiting or operations at the Division I level.
- Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Graduate assistant experience acceptable
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity related to intercollegiate athletics
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics with particular emphasis on football.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations with the ability to interpret, apply, enforce and explain such policies and rules
- Maintain knowledge of state and University policies and procedures
- Exhibit strong creative, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability in public speaking skills
- Demonstrated ability to function professionally under high stress and confrontational circumstances

- Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards, work extended hours including nights and weekends (often with extensive walking and standing)
- Demonstrated skills in management of a Power 5 intercollegiate football program
Ability to make administrative / procedural decisions and judgments Demonstrated ability to travel via motor vehicle.
