The Head Coach will oversee recruitment, academic support enforcement, team practices, competitions, scholarship allocation, compliance, statistical reporting, and student-athlete transfers. Additional responsibilities include managing team budgets, fundraising efforts, equipment procurement, and inventory. The Head Coach will foster strong relationships within the athletic department, campus community, district, conference, alumni network, and local community. Additionally, they will support other athletic teams and programs as needed, contributing to the overall success of the department. Essential Functions 25% - Plans, manages and implements coaching strategy and practice training sessions for student athletes in accordance with established regulations 25% - Organizes, provides for, and oversees the recruitment of prospective student athletes including the evaluation of student athletes in areas of academics, athletic ability and character 10% - Plans and manages the overall development of the student athlete including academic success, character building, and team discipline 10% - Serves as a program liaison w ith campus representatives, community service providers, alumni development representatives and others in the promotion of academics and campus/community support partnerships; Plans and implements athletic promotional programs and related fundraising efforts 10% - Oversees and ensures students and programs comply with NJCAA, MCCCD, Region I and ACCAC regulations, policies and procedures 10% - Plans and administers assigned budget; monitors program expenditures and budget compliance 10% - Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, sports management, sports coaching, kinesiology, recreation therapy, athletic training, sport psychology, or another field related to athletics or sports, management, communications, health, coaching, or a similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two (2) years of senior level or lead experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Desired Qualifications A. Three (3) years of coaching/teaching experience with basketball athletes at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. B. Master's degree in physical education, sports coaching, sports management, or in any related field C. Two (2) years of experience coaching basketball at a 2-year college D. Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in recruiting student-athletes in the sport of basketball. E. Two (2) years of experience related to enrollment, admissions, advisement, or financial aid of student-athletes at the college level. F. Two (2) years of experience managing a budget, ordering supplies, and organizing travel. Special Working Conditions Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood or other body fluids); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures or travel.
