Description of primary duties and responsibilities: |
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The mission of Information Technology Services is to explore, implement, maintain, and support the uses of technology to achieve the University's academic and administrative objectives effectively and efficiently as stated in University's strategic plan. |
Description of Work Continued: |
Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position will provide consultation, support and /or training for administrative, research, and academic throughout the University. Employees may provide support for academic/instructional initiatives, hardware, applications, operating systems, and networking. This function requires a broad understanding of a variety of technologies to support University constituents effectively. This employee is not usually involved in application development or network design but may participate in system integration, instructional media support, and network analysis activities. This work requires particularly strong communication skills, an ability to interact effectively with a broad range of customers and an ability to use a variety of technical resources for providing this support. Employees at this level may provide routine and non-routine support for a broad range of technologies or provide in-depth support for a more narrowly defined area of technology. These employees may be responsible for oversight of programs and/or projects.
The selected candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work. Fayetteville State University employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. |
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: |
Master's degree and 2-4 years experience; or Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related area and 3-5 years experience in the information technology field related to the position's role. |
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: |
Working technical knowledge of:
- Ellucian Banner
- Databases - (e.g., Oracle,
MSSQL)
- Programming languages - (e.g.,
SQL, Java)
- Reporting Tools - (e.g., WebFOCUS, Argos, ePrint)
- Document Capture - (e.g., Xtender, Hyland,
NOLIJ, eTranscript)
- Scheduling - (e.g., Cron, UC4)
* Firsthand experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
*Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
*Experience in the operation and analysis of software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies.
* Knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.
* Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing, and managing resources
* Must possess the ability to recognize and resolve system and software related problems; work independently and make necessary decisions within department guidelines; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively; communicate technical and complex information both orally and in writing. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Master's Degree with two to four years of experience
Four+ years of equivalent work experience in a position overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software, systems, or products. |
