Duties and Responsibilities |
The Laboratory of Assistant Professor Xiaoyu T. Cai is actively recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join our dynamic team at Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago. Our research focuses on lung regeneration, aging, and related diseases, and we are currently investigating the following key topics:
- Molecular mechanisms governing the lineage plasticity of lung stem cells.
- Intercellular crosstalk between lung stem cells and their niche.
- Inflammatory memory of lung stem cells during recurrent infections.
Our research projects are highly translational and will be conducted in collaboration with esteemed scientists from Genentech Inc. and computational experts from the University of Pittsburgh. This collaboration offers a rich interdisciplinary environment, supported by extensive human sample resources that enable us to conduct groundbreaking translational research centered on human disease biology. Additionally, we utilize ex vivo multicellular organoid culture models and in vivo disease modeling in mice to enhance our studies.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- PhD in Biomedical Science, Immunology, Regenerative Medicine, Biology of Aging, or a related field.
- Experience in stem cell-derived sphere cultures in the 3D matrix, mouse disease modeling in vivo and/or regulatory T cell research is preferred.
- Experience with single cell RNA and/or multiomic sequencing and data analysis are recommended.
- Demonstrated productivity with at least one first-author publication from Ph.D. training.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research and to think critically.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible in planning and coordinating.
- An effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in oral presentation and paper/grant writing.
