Role:

As a self-motivated mortgage loan originator you will be responsible for generating mortgage business by building client relationships as well as assisting current customers.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Interviewing mortgage applicants and analyzing and screening preliminary loan requests.

Submit fully completed loan applications and supporting documentation for processing and monitoring and keeping clients informed during the loan process from application through post-closing.

Work with loan team to ensure that all pertinent account documentation is complete and accurate and that all collateral has been properly secured.

Negotiate loan terms, structure loan financing based on risk considerations and present credits for approval to appropriate levels of authority with the bank in accordance with bank procedures including the completion and maintenance of financial tracking records in a timely fashion.

Complete necessary credit investigations on each loan application as appropriate for keeping credit files current for the duration of the loan.

Support the bank's strong relationship banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge

Build and maintain positive relations with all customers, potential customers and co-workers.

E 5% Perform as a team member in allocating and coordinating the work flow.
E 5% Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
E 5% Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, industry standards, and lending regulations.

To produce assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers).

To maintain knowledge of all mortgage products and rates, both within bank and from the industry overall.

To complete required training and undertake additional training as needed to increase job knowledge and maximize productivity.

To acquire and maintain a working knowledge of regulations and bank procedures; to comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other laws and regulations.



Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

Education

(1) A master's degree, or (2) a bachelor's degree plus professional certification (e.g. CPA).

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

- Knowledge of mortgage products, lending regulations, and market trends.

- Self-starter, ability to work independently.

- Excellent customer service skills, attentiveness, and information retention.

- Ability to interact effectively with employees in order to direct work flow, assess performance and assign duties.

- Must be a proficient communicator and listener, as well as strong organizational skills.

- Needs to have excellent relationship-building skills.

- Competence with computers.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & under pressure as needed.

- The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Bank's exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.

Physical Requirements

The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or clients and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and may require travel to branches and other locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.
