JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Becker Lab in the Department of Biology at Penn State is seeking a Research Technologist of Life Sciences - Intermediate Professional to support projects on amphibian resilience to emerging diseases. The successful applicant will play a key role in assisting Becker Lab researchers by performing DNA extractions and qPCR analyses for pathogen amplification using samples collected over the past three years. Additional responsibilities include ordering materials and supplies, organizing cryostocks, and training incoming graduate students. The Research Technologist will also oversee chemical inventory and ensure proper disposal of chemical waste. Previous experience with molecular techniques, including qPCR, is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in disease ecology, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate a collaborative, hard-working, and considerate approach to lab work. This position requires a Bachelor's degree and one or more years of related experience. A degree in Biology is preferred. This appointment is funded for one year with the possibility of re-funding.
