Overview

Responsible for creating and issuing Purchase Orders, providing commercial support to pre-and post-award projects and support overall Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) under minimal supervision.

Location and Travel:

This position will be based in one of our office locations (if you are within 30 miles of the office): Fargo, ND; Phx, AZ; Indianapolis, IN; Clinton, IN. May be considered for remote outside of that mile radius.

MasTec Renewables group is part of the MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure business segment. MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities; building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants; solar, wind, and thermal energy plants; buildings, and infrastructure.



Responsibilities

    Prepare and issue RFP equipment packages to pre-qualified suppliers
  • Work with engineering to answer all RFP questions presented by suppliers
  • Receive and evaluate proposals against RFP requirements, evaluate pricing structure, delivery timeframes and modifications to terms and conditions
  • Perform take-offs and evaluate technical specification requirements, as needed
  • Negotiate best and final pricing from selected short-listed suppliers
  • Ensure that the company does not enter into any purchase order with an external party which may harm the company's policies and practices by performing due diligence and following vendor pre-qualification process
  • Works closely with engineering, project controls, scheduling, risk management, legal and insurance
  • Facilitate redline terms and conditions review
  • Secure a completed purchasing requisition with final engineering documents, arrive at a mutually agreed set of terms and conditions and conform all purchase order exhibits/attachments
  • Negotiates and creates purchase orders aligned with project team needs.
  • Manage stakeholder and supplier interaction within the boundaries of company policy, ensures adherence to processes and audit compliance
  • Assists in the schedule development for project proposals
  • Assists the estimating department regarding equipment scope and price
  • Supports the Procurement Manager(s) in the development of project reports and status updates
  • Visit sites as needed to assist on-site as required
  • Support project closeout
  • Lead meetings or negotiations surrounding strategic procurement, including, but not limited to, areas of development of enhanced supplier pool, bulk buys, etc.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, or combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement (preferably within engineering or construction industries)
  • Preferred experience with renewables materials buying

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and be flexible regarding day to day responsibilities
  • Proficiently skilled in oral and written communication
  • Knowledgeable in engineering and construction industry standards, specifications and organizations
  • Experience in developing, executing and presenting high-quality deliverables to discipline management
  • Knowledge of best practices for managing daily issues and tasks
  • Works efficiently and calmly when tight deadlines or other stress factors arise
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Decisive, shows advanced problem-solving capabilities
  • Professional, thorough, and detail-oriented
