The Data Observability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the health, reliability, and accuracy of data across systems. This role is responsible for proactively monitoring, detecting, and resolving issues within data pipelines and infrastructure to prevent disruptions. The Data Observability Engineer must possess a blend of technical expertise in data engineering, a strong focus on data quality, and the ability to work cross-functionally to ensure robust and reliable data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Monitoring & Alerts:

  • Implement and manage data observability tools to monitor the performance and health of data systems, including automated alerts for data anomalies, failures, and other issues affecting system performance.


Data Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure high-quality, accurate, and consistent data across all platforms by identifying and addressing data quality issues, inconsistencies, and pipeline failures. Collaborate with teams to establish and maintain data governance policies.


Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve data issues promptly, working closely with engineering teams to investigate root causes. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues and minimize disruptions in data pipelines.


Collaboration:

  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define observability requirements, gather feedback, and improve data flow reliability.


Metrics & Dashboards:

  • Define and track key data health metrics such as data latency, completeness, accuracy, and freshness. Design and maintain dashboards to facilitate continuous monitoring and quick identification of data anomalies.


Automation & Optimization:

  • Continuously improve and automate monitoring processes, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing manual oversight, and optimizing data observability tools to support a scalable and proactive data pipeline monitoring system.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years' experience in a related field
  • Experience with handling data quality issues such as latency, completeness, or freshness in a large-scale data environment
  • Experience in implementing Data observability in AWS, GCP Cloud Platforms.


USD 99,000.00 - 165,000.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
