Vehicle Communications System Operator Instructor

Summary:

ATS is seeking a capable and experienced Vehicle Communications System Operator Instructor to join the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) New Equipment Training Team (NETT) supporting the Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA). The instructor will be responsible for training Marines in the operation, configuration, and maintenance of vehicular communications systems that support voice and digital command and control across the ACV Family of Vehicles (FoV).



  • Deliver hands-on and classroom-based instruction on:

    • Operation and maintenance of vehicular radio sets
    • Voice and digital communication systems for tactical C2 missions
    • Analysis and use of diagnostic tools, computer hardware, and software used in communications
    • Secure communications setup, frequency loading, and cryptographic key management


  • Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, student guides, audio-visual aids, and other instructional materials.
  • Conduct Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), inspections, and repairs of ACV communications systems.
  • Interface with NETT staff on all matters related to Crypto Controlled Items (CCI), COMSEC accountability, and readiness.
  • Execute day-to-day custodial responsibilities for symmetric/asymmetric key provisioning to support C4 and C2 system operations.
  • Ensure students achieve competency in secure communications protocols and mission readiness standards.


Basic Qualifications:



  • U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience instructing military communications operations or radio system usage.
  • Completion of the Marine Corps Instructor Development Course (IDC) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and teach technical materials associated with vehicle communication platforms and secure communication protocols.
  • Must be physically capable of mounting/dismounting ACVs and working in operational environments while wearing PPE.
  • Must meet Marine Corps Water Survival-Basic (WS-B) swim qualification and be certified in the Underwater Egress Trainer (UET).


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience with ACV communications suites or other tactical vehicle-based C4 systems.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC policies, KMI procedures, and crypto key loading equipment.
  • Operational knowledge of digital transmission systems, frequency management, and inventory control processes.
  • Background in secure network communications within expeditionary or amphibious mission sets.
  • Prior military experience within the Stryker Combat Vehicle community as a communicator

Working Environment:

The usual daily work conditions will be in an office environment located at Camp Lejeune, NC. The job requires occasional lifting of computer and other equipment, generally not in excess of 50 lbs., usually in connection with equipment transport to off-site locations for exercise events. This job also requires field time where the instructor will be required to supervise students from the Vehicle Commanders Station of an ACV during field exercises in the land and on water. The Instructor will be required to wear all PPE for extended periods of time when in the field. The exercise support staff typically travels with a high degree of frequency. Travel to training exercise locations regularly includes CONUS, its territories, with occasional international travel. Exercise duty may include extended work periods beyond 12 hours; air travel in excess of 18 hours on a single aircraft; outdoor working conditions; and driving for extended periods to work sites.
