Zayo is seeking a Director of Compensation to lead the design, execution, and governance of global compensation programs for a fast-paced technology company. Our Director of Compensation ensures the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent while aligning compensation strategies with business objectives and maintaining compliance across multiple geographies. Our Director of Compensation will also oversee base pay, short- and long-term incentive programs, and drive innovation in rewards strategies. Additionally, the Director of Compensation will lead and develop a small team of compensation professionals.

*We'd ideally like for this position to be based in a hybrid capacity out of our downtown Denver, CO office (1401 Wynkoop); however, we are open to the position working remotely within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design, delivery, and support of Zayo's global compensation strategy for a fast paced technology company

  • Lead key compensation initiatives, including annual compensation planning, job architecture updates, salary structures, career framework, bonus processes, retention programs, and M&A integration.

  • Conduct global market benchmarking, ensuring competitive pay practices, especially for high-demand technical roles.

  • Design and deliver compensation training and communication

  • Educate HR partners and business leaders on compensation philosophy, best practices, and strategic recommendations for new hires, promotions, and job leveling.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to HRBP's ensuring a two-way flow of information regarding compensation strategies and business needs

  • Enhance pay-for-performance programs to drive employee engagement and business success.

  • Act as a key advisor to executives, providing data-driven insights on compensation trends and strategies in a clear and strategic manner

  • Lead and develop a team of three compensation professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous development.

  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations such as pay transparency laws, wage regulations, and fair pay initiatives.

  • Lead pay equity analyses and support DEI-related compensation efforts.

  • Maintain governance over compensation policies, ensuring clear documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop competitive compensation packages for new hires and critical roles.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in compensation market practices, rules/regulations, and compliance

  • Excellent communicator and influencer

  • Ability to analyze data, create, and share meaningful insights

  • Self-starter with great organization skills and follow-through, with the ability to prioritize your workload and balance concurrent projects

  • Ability to demonstrate confidence, credibility, and good judgment, and to take on new challenges

  • Experience with Workday, Radford and WTW or similar systems/tools

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in Human Resources, Finance or related discipline (Masters degree or CCP preferred)

  • Minimum 10 years progressive compensation or related experience, preferably in a medium-large company; experience working in a compensation consultancy preferred

  • 3+ years managing others

  • Familiarity with compensation planning, modeling and analysis.

  • Prior experience with designing compensation programs and structures

  • Self-driven and capable of working/influencing senior leaders, members of the HR team, and cross-functional partners throughout the company

  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills both with employees and stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using compensation tools and HRIS systems.

  • Ability to think strategically while also executing operational details.

Estimated Base Pay Range: $125,000 - $178,600 USD/annually

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
