We are hiring a Manager, Public Policy who will be responsible for implementing strategies to advance the company's legislative and political agenda. The manager will develop and refine the company's analysis of legislative, regulatory, and other public policy activity that impacts current operations as well as future opportunities. This role must possess a deep understanding for how to navigate policy through the legislative process, conduct research and know how to influence key decision makers. The position is based in Waltham, MA.

  • You are someone with strong advocacy, negotiation and communication skills.
  • You balance multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • You have demonstrated experience in developing both long- and short-term advocacy strategies and tactics along with coalition building with diverse interests to advance policy priorities.
  • You have a solid understanding of energy and fuels policy issues.

"Gauges" of Responsibility

  • Research and monitor government activities that could affect the organizations' business and clients.
  • Assists senior management and leadership with planning for known and potential regulatory activities related to the business and industry.
  • Provide analysis to support the team; synthesize research findings to identify and recommend company strategy.
  • Produce research for presentations to internal and external parties, which includes position papers, testimony/public comments, and educational briefings.
  • Develop and implement strategies to advocate for key priorities; effectively navigate policy goals through the legislative process and provide key insight.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key lawmakers, staff members, community leaders, business groups, and industry groups.
  • Collaborate and work cross functionally with relevant departments within the company.
  • Attend hearings, industry seminars and community events as necessary

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of political landscape in the Northeast.
  • Team player who excels at performing in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate research findings clearly and persuasively to various audiences.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
