About the Job

This is a full-time, seasonal (temporary) position at the St. Paul Gym.

Job Duties include:

  • Provide a safe environment for youth ages 6-15
  • Supervise and participate with groups of youth in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including swimming, rock climbing, recreational games, arts/crafts, field trips, and more
  • Plan and lead organized games and other age-appropriate activities
  • Interact and relate with youth and serve as a positive role model
  • Work as a team with other Group Leaders, Instructors, and Supervisors
  • Be an ambassador for the University of Minnesota Youth Programs on and off of campus
  • Assist with daily set-up, daily clean up, and transportation
  • Carry out the goals, themes, and schedule of the program to provide a consistent and high-quality experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Start Date

  • 5/31/2025

Work Hours

  • Shift to be scheduled between 7:45 AM and 5:15 PM

Work Days

  • Monday - Friday; June 9 - August 15. Training dates prior to June 9. No camp the week of June 30 - July 4.

Hours per Week

  • 35 - 40 hours
Qualifications

  • Age 18 or older
  • Experience working with youth ages 6-15
  • Experience implementing youth activities and supervising youth in groups of 8 to 20
  • Willing and able to swim & physically play with youth on a daily basis
  • Capable of effective and appropriate mental, emotional, and social responses in a constantly changing, youth-centered environment
  • Available to work 9 full weeks, Monday through Friday, during the camp dates: June 9 - August 15, 2025 (No camps June 19th or the week of June 30 - July 4).
  • Available to attend the required training sessions all-day on Saturday, May 31 and during the evenings of June 2, June 4, and June 5.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $16.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
