Job Details:

Purpose

To advise students in the planning and execution of programs and events that stimulate the cultural, intellectual, and social life of the University.

Responsibilities
  • Advise students through the process of marketing, administration and logistics for programs and events including but not limited to contracting outside vendors, facilities and food service management and distribution of publications; meet weekly with student leaders to advise and monitor event progress.
  • Oversee at least 4 student committees within the University Unions programming board (Campus Events + Entertainment).
  • Actively participate as a member of the Campus Events + Entertainment advising team; collaborate on developing new strategic directions for the department's student programs and initiatives.
  • Provide fiscal advisement to students; monitor expenditures and commit university funds on behalf of department and student groups.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of student volunteers and develop training and assessment for student leadership.
  • Evaluate and assess appropriate risk management policies and issues of campus safety for student programs and events.
  • Other related functions as assigned by Director and Executive Director to meet departmental and divisional needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Three years of experience coordinating and developing student program(s), including at least one year experience with group advising, large scale event planning and departmental administrative responsibilities as well as knowledge and skills relating to professionally and effectively advising and mentoring students.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on detail-oriented projects energetically and creatively while collaborating with various University departments and student services.
  • Ability to identify problems, use sound judgment and reasoning to make crucial decisions autonomously.
  • Ability to make decisions supporting the University Unions mission and goals.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with similar deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy office.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related area.
  • Experience with risk management policies, procedures and strategies and exercising good judgment based on the understanding of those policies and procedures.
  • Experience and ability to work with cultural programming groups and oversight of large-scale campus-wide programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and oral and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented style.
  • Experience with contracts and outside vendors.
Salary Range

$57,500 + Depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions

May work around standard office equipment. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Frequent standing and sitting and the use of manual dexterity. Final candidate will be required to pass a background check prior to starting employment.

UT Austin is a Tobacco-free Campus.

Work Shift

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with regular evening work. Schedule will be flexible to accommodate for weekly evening events and meetings and occasional weekend responsibilities.
