GSK is looking for a Director, Automation and Digital Operations where you will direct and be accountable for all operational, technical, and strategic activities related to automation, controls, and digital, data & analytics (DDA), in support of facility business domains - manufacturing, manufacturing support, technical, quality & labs, and supply chain operations.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Direct operational and technical stewardship of digital assets and solutions at all network levels, including: Level 4 - GSK enterprise systems (e.g. MERP), Level 3 - Execution systems (e.g. MES, LES), Level 2 - Control systems (e.g. DCS, BAS), and Level 1 (e.g. IoT).
  • Direct engineering and technical efforts in the design, specification, procurement, and deployment of automation and digital assets & applications.
  • Direct automation and coding efforts in the design, implementation, and operational support of automated and digital solutions across all domains of the facility - manufacturing, engineering & manufacturing support, technical, labs & quality, supply chain operations.
  • Assure that all digital operations are compliant with GSK guidelines/standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements, especially as they pertain to cyber security and data integrity.
  • Assure business continuity in all aspects of automated solutions and digital operations, including but not limited to: network and system security against cyber threats, data integrity and availability, critical spares, asset supportability, and license to operate it pertains to EHS and Quality Compliance.
  • Create, own, and deliver the site's digital strategy. Ensure this strategy:
    • delivers measurable value to the business.
    • is aligned with Supply Chain objectives and automation strategy.
    • advances the site's digital posture.
    • better aligns the capability and composition of the site's workforce with its digital trajectory.
  • Drive maturity in the space of digital solutions and data based insights. Areas include, but are not limited to: data flows and architecture, data science & analytics, machine learning, PAT, insight delivery and visualization, business intelligence, MERP data management, and systems integration.
  • Drive value to the business through innovation and transformational technologies such as AR/VR, robotics, biometrics, and ML/AI.
  • Own and manage relationships with PSC Tech, BSSC Leads, and other DDA stakeholders external to site, with the goal of progressing the site's digital strategy.
  • Provides the lead role for daily support activities such as calibration/PM schedules, documentation, adherence to procedures, procurement, database maintenance, and assure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Implements and monitors department training activities for both compliance and technician cross training and leads technical capability improvements for department personnel.
  • Operates the calibration and maintenance programs to ensure production and lab operational requirements are met.
  • Writes, reviews, recommends, and implements departmental SOPs and provides technical support for manufacturing, laboratory, validation, and support personnel.
  • Maintains the calibration and maintenance databases and other calibration specific software.
  • Supports new construction and engineering projects as required, to include review and approval of instrument data sheets.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering with 10+ years of automation or digital operations experience with at least 8 years in a manufacturing or life sciences environment
  • 4+ years of directly managing people

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Line and cross functional leadership
  • Biologics manufacturing operations experience
  • Distributed controls experience
  • Building automation systems
  • Manufacturing execution systems experience
The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $165,825 to $276,375 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
