While reporting to the Production Manager, this position is accountable for the safety, quality, productivity, cost performance, and employee relations associated for an assigned production shift. This job requires leadership and the efficient use of resources (labor, materials, and equipment) to manufacture quality products at lowest possible cost. You will supervise and coordinate the activities of all hourly employees on an assigned shift. Position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices. This position is a rotating 12 hour night shift from 7pm-7am, operating 3 days on, two days off, two days on, three days off. You work approximately 15 days a week ever a three-day weekend every other weekend!

What you will be doing:

  • Provide leadership and direction for meeting and exceeding OSHA and Sonoco safety standards throughout the plant.
  • Create an environment that promotes the identification of safe operating behavior and equipment and initiates improvements and corrective actions on a continuous basis.
  • Coach, direct, and facilitate production and maintenance employees, focus on team problem solving, consensus building and technical training.
  • Train, lead, and give daily direction to employees on the safety process, the production process, and the expected product quality requirements.
  • Provide leadership and direction for improving the operation of the extrusion and equipment, focus on team problem solving, consensus building and technical training.
  • Troubleshoot process problems on the extrusion equipment, developing corrective actions and document the process changes.
  • Continuously monitor the extrusion and injection equipment to ensure the quality and efficiency standards are maintained.
  • Schedule employees daily to extrusion and injection plastic product lines to ensure even staffing and 100% uptime.
  • Coordinate and provide departmental training to onboard new employees and develop existing personnel.
  • Daily verification and data entry of production reports.
  • Communicate and document employee performance and provide coaching, counseling, or discipline when necessary.
  • Develop root cause analysis for plant quality and customer quality returns.

This position is located in Hanover, PA.

  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve manufacturing process problems with manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules and priorities, labor requirements, quality specifications, and technical procedures utilizing clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Ability and desire to work hands on in a 24 hour a day plastics manufacturing plant.
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office, ERP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a strong desire for safety and understand that all accidents are preventable

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and meet KPI's

  • You have experience building successful teams
  • You have 3+ years supervisory experience in Manufacturing (Preferred)
  • You have a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relatable discipline - (Preferred)
  • You have a passion for innovation and continuous improvement

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $85,920 to $96,660, plus a quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
