About the role:

Director, Legal Counsel, Public Sector Practice

Gartner is currently seeking a Director, Legal Counsel (LC) for our expanding North America Public Sector Practice. The LC will be responsible for managing a small team of lawyers/ contract negotiators. The LC will also be responsible for negotiation of master contract agreements and all attendant contractual instruments to facilitate the sale and use of Gartner Research and Advisory Services products as well as Consulting Services. The LC will be responsible for answering internal sales executive's general contracting questions to include providing assistance and counsel to internal pricing and proposal support resources for the North America Public Sector Team. The LC will report directly to the MVP, Legal Counsel, Legal & Compliance and assists with supporting the North America Public Sector Team efforts in the U.S. and Canadian State & Local Public sector market(s).

What you'll do

  • Read, analyze, assess, and communicate guidance on RFQs/RFPs, Commercial Non-Disclosure Agreements, Transactional Agreements, Teaming Agreements and Contract Agreements.
  • Review, negotiate as needed, and ultimately approve Contracts, Purchase Orders and Modifications.
  • Conduct "issue-specific" and "new hire" training for Sales/Consulting/Client Financial Services.
  • Answer inquiries from and propose problem resolution for Gartner's for Accounts Receivables issues.
  • Interface/dialog with clients (at sales request) to discuss acquisition solutions and/or resolve/explain issues.
  • Provide advice and counsel on general, public sector contracting and legal issue(s).
  • Manage a small team of contract managers, inclusive of work assignment, performance management, and coaching and development

What you'll need:

  • Undergraduate degree, Juris Doctor degree, and membership in good standing in a state bar required
  • Eight to ten years or more of experience in government contracting, consulting / advisory, or related field. State and local government sales support desired
  • Familiarity with government contracting terminology and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experien
  • ce negotiating Fixed Price Research & Advisory licensing agreements and Consulting master contracts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
  • Knowledge and experience in the use, MS Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint a plus)
  • Strong process management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet firm deadlines
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 134,000 USD - 185,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
