The Role

We are looking for a dynamic HR professional with experience in transformation, workforce planning, talent planning and reskill programs. The individual will play a critical role in our transformation journey. This role is critical in driving large-scale HR initiatives, focusing on aligning with business objectives and enhancing HR capabilities
The individual filling this role will be instrumental in leading how we transform our workforce strategy to ensure we have the right talent, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time, to meet the evolving needs of our customers and secure the company's future. This leader will also be a key enabler of our transformation journey, elevating our insights through bringing or developing an external perspective, and a continuous improvement mindset. They will be accountable for the execution and governance against workforce planning near and future strategy planning, leading a multi-year workforce plan.
To ensure we attract, grow, and develop our talent intentionally, the Director will lead across a highly cross-functional team of partners to guide key performance indicators to achieve multi-year talent planning aspirations. By generating rich insights, trends and sharing best practices, the Director will build strong relationships and influence the outcomes and goals through a data-driven and action-oriented approach.
This role is responsible for Strategic Capability & Workforce Planning, empowering the organization with innovative workforce planning and capability-building strategies that drive agility, optimize resource allocation, and future-proof talent pipeline. This leader will create data-driven processes and scalable systems that align workforce capabilities with business goals, enabling sustainable growth, operational excellence, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Program Planning and Development: Collaborate closely with senior leaders across departments to ensure that workforce planning strategies align with organizational goals and identify new opportunities to enhance the company's capabilities.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Use data analytics to assess the current workforce and predict future talent needs. Drive workforce analytics to understand gaps, turnover, and opportunities for development.
  • Design frameworks to assess and align workforce capabilities with business needs.
  • Develop advanced workforce planning processes for optimal resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify workforce trends and skill gaps.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for workforce planning tools and systems.
  • Program Implementation: Use tools and methodologies to assess readiness, measure effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and engagement.
  • Partner with Talent Development to ensure effective upskilling and reskilling programs are designed for Lumen's success.
  • This role may also lead other HR Solutions and Transformation projects, leading cross-functional project teams to develop and execute HR solutions that drive business impact through innovative talent strategies including change plan development and implementation.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience with expertise in workforce strategy, talent development, talent and organizational change, or related fields with 4+ years of leadership experience. Experience with workforce planning, talent development and upskill/reskill programs in a scaled environement.
  • Strong background in developing and implementing people strategies that align with business goals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to develop; measurable goals to track success
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills required, experience with senior stakeholder management.
  • Highly organized with experience running large scale programs
  • Experience working with external third parties and building strong relationships and leading teams.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver on tight timelines.
  • Consulting or experience working closely with the technology teams.
  • Experience in planning, designing, leading and implementing talent programs.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning experience.
  • Proven HR experience in leading organizational change and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Ability to travel as required. Travel varies by project. Anticipated travel is 25%.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in HR, IO Psychology, Organizational Development, or Organizational Effectiveness.
  • Direct business experience leading people-related strategies beyond the required HR experience.

Location:

This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. Travel requirements vary from project to project. Anticipated travel 25%.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
