Senior Project Architect
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for Senior Project Architect at our Houston Downtown office.

About this Role:
The ideal candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of architectural design-from programming through construction administration-while nurturing strong client relationships and contributing to business development. Prior experience in Institutional, Commercial, or Public Works sectors is highly preferred.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys growing talent, collaborating across disciplines, and balancing design excellence with technical rigor and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire project teams across all phases: design development, documentation, and construction administration.
- Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff, providing technical guidance, professional development support, and leadership by example.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Designers to oversee technical execution and quality assurance.
- Manage workload allocation within and across project teams to ensure efficiency and balance.
- Maintain compliance with schedules, budgets, codes, and quality standards.
- Participate in business development, including client presentations, proposal preparation, and project pursuit strategy.
- Foster lasting client relationships and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
- Engage in Huitt-Zollars' internal training, quality management system (QMS), and process improvement initiatives.
- Take a proactive role in talent development and succession planning within the office.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (required)
- Licensed Architect in Texas (required)
- Minimum 10 years of architectural experience, including leadership in technical design and team coordination
- Strong portfolio of work in Institutional, Commercial, or Public Works projects
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage consultant coordination
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion
- The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
