Senior Mechanical Engineer Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide. Job Summary: Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products and to support existing products. Utilizes the finite element method or other methods for analysis, makes calculations to obtain necessary engineering parameters and conducts experiments and research to understand physical phenomena of products. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal. 2. Confers with Sales, Production and Quality to clarify or resolve problems. 3. Creates test procedure for solving problems. 4. Performs experiments to determine necessary engineering parameters. 5. Discusses, analyzes, summarizes and publishes with appropriate personnel, test results. 6. Uses test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. 7. Evaluates test results for possible application to development of other uses. 8. Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics. 9. Performs project and system design. 10. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. 11. Confers with other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required. 12. Develops new methods and techniques for pressure protections, rupture discs and related products. 13. Makes recommendations to appropriate personnel on improvements to current production processes leading to increased efficiency. 14. Researches high level complex product problems and concerns. 15. Shares results with the Engineering Manager and the Director of Engineering. 16. Interacts with customers to provide engineered solutions to their requirements and product problems. 17. Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing processes. 18. Conducts temperature convergence factor calculation for non-configured customer orders. 19. Provides support to the sales department in calculations and application information. 20. Studies ASME, ANSI, MIL, AISI, IFI, NACE, API, AWS, DOT and NFPA standards and others as required. 21. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshop and seminars, reviewing professional publications, networking and participating in professional societies. 22. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed. 23. Adheres to the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) policies and procedures related to NIST 800-171 and completes all required CUI Awareness training, which includes collection, processing/handling, transmission, storage, and general safeguarding practices Performs related duties as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Job Qualifications: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Eight years related post degree experience. Experience with ASME Section VIII and applicable military standards. PREFERRED: Registered Professional Engineer. Master's degree in a related technical field. Knowledge of CAD.
