Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Fieldwork such as soil, soil vapor, indoor air and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and remediation system O&M;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 80%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology or related field. (preferred)
  • Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, if applicable. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years (5+ preferred) of related experience in environmental consultant, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
  • Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
  • Experience with construction work such as plumbing, electrical, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical tasks. (valuable)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving scoping and implementation of dynamic environmental projects, site characterization, and environmental data analysis. (required)
  • Experience working on complex Sites with various contaminated media. (required)
  • Experience implementing a variety of remediation technologies. (preferred)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum: $66,560/year / Maximum: $102,005/year or Minimum: $31.72/hour / Maximum: $32.00/hour (San Diego, CA)
