This position assists the Transportation department. Help provide support for Growers, Company, and Toll Mills. Assist with coordination efforts for scheduling and dispatching of feed, feed recovery for company and contract farms in the Midwest region.

Core Responsibilities
  • Create purchase orders and check requests for transportation.
  • Create work orders and monitor escalations for transportation.
  • Update, File and distribute Transportation Reports - daily, weekly, monthly, annually.
  • Track, analyze and communicate with Toll mills to improve Feed Accuracy
  • Track, analyze and communicate with Toll Mills reduce Emergency Feed Outages
  • Communicate with Toll mills concerning open and confirmed orders.
  • Review reports and make corrections for accurate Shrink control.
  • Point of contact for Growers and Internal customers
  • Oversite of Site documentation including communication, tracking, updating, and providing feedback to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Maintain data collection and graphing for monthly reports and presentations.
  • Promote and support team concept among other employees and takes an active role in quality performance.
  • Order parts, process and code invoices, maintain inventory for TMT Truck Maintenance
  • Backup for driver setup, month end inventory, usage and reporting for Fuel Island
  • Maintain and update Safety & Food Safety SOP's, Training records, perform annual revisions to chemical lists, HIRA documents.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, plan & coordinate food for team meetings and special events.
  • Collect, prepare, and maintain Huddle TV communication.
  • Input Safety Near Misses and Site Documentation for transportation.
  • Reconcile Petty Cash reimbursement and order uniforms for staff as directed.
  • Back up for Feed Logistics Coordinator
  • Back up for Logistics Specialists - PTO Coverage, feed recovery transactions, etc.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Follow Company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Must understand that Smithfield is a producer of high-quality pork for human consumption.
  • Responsible for compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield subscribes.
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Diploma- with minimum of 4 years of experience in business or customer service role.
  • Preferred: 2+ years associate degree and 2 or more years of experience in business support or customer service role
  • Experience providing administrative support to managers in a large multi-national company, preferred.
  • Detail oriented, organized with ability to successfully multi-task and think differently to drive innovative ideas.
  • Positive, tenacious attitude; strong verbal and written communication, and project management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and preference for collaboration with proven success working with others; ability to work with high profile individuals externally, as well as collaborate internally.
  • Solid typing, grammar, spelling and proof-reading skills.
  • Strict ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Discretion, good judgment ability, adaptable and versatile individual.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
