Job Summary:



The Medical Director will provide strategic, operational and medical leadership and direction for clinical operations working collaboratively with the clinical faculty, staff and leadership of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) clinic at Highlands Ranch Hospital (HRH) in order to develop and maintain clinical operations which support HRH's mission and values in an organized, effective, innovative, and quality and service-oriented manner. Will be a champion of quality and safety, improving access, and delivery of regional care in the ambulatory environment.

Scope of responsibility will include practice management, operational efficiency, business development, and delivery of outstanding faculty, patient and referring provider service. This position has primary responsibility for establishing accountability with providers regarding HRH policies and procedures, operational standards, and quality and service excellence initiatives.

Key member of HRH care delivery leadership team and participates in all strategic discussions and operational planning for their practice and/or unit.

This position will report to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery's Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery's Division Chief. This position will supervise the lead anchor APP at HRH.

Key Responsibilities:



  • The Medical Director will work with the Division Chief to ensure access that is appropriate to the needs of the patient and referring provider.
  • Is accountable for communication to and education of providers including but not limited to existing and modified HRH clinical policies and procedures, provider responsibilities and other information provided at clinical leadership meetings.
  • Will work collaboratively with HRH leadership to develop and operationalize growth strategies and priorities for their specialty.
  • Will develop, implement and monitor clinical standards of care and will work with practice director and relevant staff to develop policies and procedures for optimal operations.
  • Will partner with the practice director and relevant staff for efficient management of provider schedules to maximize resources, access and patient satisfaction.
  • Will participate in and champion continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Will partner with Health Information Management to ensure timely completion of medical records by providers and ensuring prompt communication with primary care, referring and other treating physicians/providers.
  • Will respond promptly to complaints and to requests for information from HRH teams, patients and referring providers.
  • Will be responsible for communicating initiatives, standards and operational decisions to the providers within their specialty.
  • Works to identify issues within clinical operations to resolve issues that may impede ambulatory operations.



Accountability



  • Direct report to the CUSOM Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Chief
  • Performance will be reviewed annually by the PRS Chief input from appropriate HRH practice and nursing leadership, other HRH staff (as appropriate) and applicable CUSOM faculty and providers. Changes to this position require approval of the PRS Chief.
  • Attend HRH clinical leadership meetings and other strategic and operational meetings, as requested



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Board certified or equivalent in specialty
  • Active clinical practice at HRH
  • Appointment as full-time academic faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM)
  • Currently has an MD degree


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous experience working with hospital leadership
  • Previous experience with clinical quality improvement projects
  • MBA is preferred

  • Commitment to ensuring an excellent patient experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as an individual HIRING RATE:

$20,000 stipend

The above salary rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
