Position Summary

Certified Hyperbaric Technician, is responsible for the high quality and safe operation of hyperbaric equipment and the integrity, safety, security, and emergency preparedness of the HBO room and overall program. This individual is responsible for courteous, efficient customer care, operating independently, under limited supervision. Work situations are varied and require initiative, analysis, interpretation of information from a variety of sources, a service-oriented individual, and the use of discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Internal contacts are primarily within the work group but may also include patient care staff. External contacts include patients, physicians, and outside health care facilities and agencies who work with the patient and patient's family.

The role of Safety Coordinator, in addition to HBO technician duties, is responsible for safe and effective operation and maintenance of hyperbaric chambers and related systems and ancillary components. He/she works closely with facility management and department medical personnel to ensure highest quality of safety for patients, staff, and visitors. He/she makes recommendations for safety policies and incorporates new safety procedures as appropriate. The Safety Coordinator assists in setting agenda and education for hyperbaric patient panels; provides leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility personnel; and maintains all facility safety-related standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies and supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.

Requirements


  • Additional education for safety coordinator within 1 year of hire consists of course in NFPA 99 or safety director training course completion
  • OR certified and/or licensed clinician (e.g. EMT, Respiratory Care Practitioner, LPN, RN, etc.)
  • Certification as a hyperbaric technologist (CHT); or certified within 1-year of hire
  • Current CPR

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $27.07 - $41.22 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
