Summary of Job Duties:The Research Associate I, will support the Center for Hearing Health Access team at UAMS. This role involves leading and assisting in qualitative research aimed at expanding hearing healthcare access in rural communities, both nationally and internationally. Responsibilities include community engagement, study coordination, regulatory compliance, qualitative data collection, and dissemination of findings.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate critical thinking, independence, and a willingness to travel. Experience with community engagement, conducting interviews and focus groups, and qualitative data analysis is required. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in health, public policy, global health, anthropology, audiology, or related field plus five (5) years of qualitative research experience, project coordination, or related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Experience using Canva for visual materials.

  • Knowledge of implementation science and mixed-methods research.

  • Strong scientific writing skills.

  • Experience working with underserved populations and familiarity with rural Alaska contexts.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate training in public health, global health, anthropology, audiology, or a related field.

  • Experience with digital health, public health, or health-related projects.

  • Proficiency with CLARA, MAXQDA, NVivo, Atlas Ti, SPSS, MPlus, SAS, R, STATA, or REDCap.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with community partners and recruit Community Advisory Board (CAB) members.

  • Organize and document CAB meetings, and develop educational materials.

  • Facilitate project communication across institutions and time zones.

  • Ensure compliance with Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and manage submissions.

  • Conduct and support interviews, focus groups, and consent procedures. Maintain secure data systems and ensure data quality.

  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and assist with grant proposals.

  • Disseminate findings through presentations and publications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
