Summary

MongoDB is looking for a Head of Employee Communications, reporting to the Chief People Officer. While MongoDB has had an internal communication function as a part of the Marketing function, the role has been redefined and now sits on the People Leadership Team. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering communication strategies that drive transparency, strategic alignment, employee engagement and develop MongoDB's brand as an employer of choice, in partnership with the rest of the People functions, Marketing and the wider MongoDB leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, and the ability to strategically communicate the company's identity, culture and employee experience internally and externally.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and Execute Company-Wide Employee Communication Strategies:



  • Create and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy that supports business goals and enhances employee engagement by using the power of storytelling across a variety of mediums to embed MongoDB's culture, as defined by our Leadership Commitment, into everything we do
  • This includes internal executive communications i.e. working closely with the C-suite to craft and deliver clear, compelling internal messages that align with the company's vision, values & business objectives


2. Optimize & Oversee Internal Communication Channels:



  • Optimize, manage and in some cases, completely revamp internal communication channels such as emails, newsletters, leadership meetings, town halls and social platforms to ensure timely and effective information dissemination to employees at all levels
  • Create a plan to develop a company intranet and oversee the ongoing content strategy to facilitate communication, collaboration, and information sharing among employees The intranet is intended to serve as a central hub where employees can access company resources, news, policies, tools, and updates in a secure environment


3. Employer Branding



  • Define and deliver employer branding strategies and an employee value proposition that shape and strengthen MongoDB's reputation as a great place to work
  • Create engaging external content that showcases the company's culture and employee experience, as well as MongoDB's competitive advantage as a database of choice for the AI world
  • Partner with recruiting to create compelling recruitment campaigns for high volume and strategic searches
  • Drive employee advocacy & engagement by recruiting brand ambassadors through social media & referral programs and highlighting employee success stories
  • Track and measure employer brand effectiveness through surveys, hiring metrics, social media engagement, recruitment marketing effectiveness and more


4. Crisis Communication Management: Act as a trusted advisor to the C-Suite during times of change or crisis, ensuring consistent and transparent communication

5. Measure Impact and Effectiveness:Track and analyze communication and engagement efforts through surveys, analytics, and employee feedback, adjusting strategies as needed

6. Team Leadership: Build, develop and lead high-performing internal communications and employer brand team


Who you are

  • Background/Experience: 10+ years of experience in some combination of internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement & employer branding, most of it in the technology industry. 1-2 years of experience in HR, particularly areas like Culture or Employee Engagement or even HR Business Partnering is highly preferred. At least 2-3 years of people management experience
  • Storytelling: Ability to craft and deliver compelling narratives that align with company goals, and engage, inform, and inspire employees by structuring messages in a way that resonates emotionally, creates connection, and drives action, but also aligns with com
  • Change Management & Crisis Communication: Expertise in helping leadership teams craft communication plans during times of exceptional organizational change and crisis.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience working with senior executives, HR, and cross-functional teams to drive messaging and execute on communication plans in a timely manner
  • Digital & Social Media Savvy: Familiarity with intranet platforms, newsletters, video content, and communication tools like Slack
  • Data driven mindset: Ability to measure effectiveness of communication and employer brand strategies through a variety of mechanisms and ability to adjust strategies based on the data insights
  • Ability to manage teams & drive accountability: Ability to set clear expectations, ensure follow-through, and create a culture where individuals take ownership of their responsibilities and outcomes

MongoDB's base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB's total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
