The below is a position with ASPEQ Heating Group. ASPEQ Heating Group is a marketplace leader in innovative electric heating solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex work.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electric heating systems and products to meet high standards of performance and quality. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient, innovative solutions to meet customer and industry needs.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Design and Documentation
  • Prepare mechanical drawings and wiring schematics for electric heating products
  • Produce BOM's, routings & manufacturing instructions
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards, including UL, CSA and ETL
  1. Project and Process Management
  • Manage and document design modifications and engineering changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide support to the sales group as required for the preparation of customer quotes
  1. Collaboration and Cross-functional Coordination
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components as needed
  • Work with the R&D department on various design and/or process improvement projects
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new and exisiting products

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Prior experience managing, organizing and scheduling workflows in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, CNC punch) and design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with experience working in cross-functional teams

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Travel & Working Environment

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed for component handling or testing
  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
