Description
Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are Nurse Practitioners (NP), Physician Assistants (PA), or Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
The APP is credential by the medical staff and functions within their scope of practice in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with organizational medical staff bylaws. They are responsible for providing evidenced-based care for the management of patients, including assessment, implementation and evaluation of a detailed plan of care, which incorporates diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in providing age-appropriate care to patients as defined by certification and training and provides family centered care to meet family needs, including psychological support, education and discharge planning in conjunction with other related disciplines. The APP initiates, participates and collaborates with divisional and organizational multi-disciplinary staff to provide and support evidence-based education, quality improvement and research. They participate in professional and organizational activities that contribute to improving patient care, the scientific knowledge base of advanced practice, program operation, and individual professional development. The APP provides leadership within their respective clinical area through participation in division projects and mentorship of others. They contribute to department and organization wide initiatives, representing advanced practice and promoting the role of the advanced practice provider. Qualifications
Minimum Education
Master's Degree Nurse Practitioner Master's or Doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. Physician Assistant Master's or Doctoral degree of Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. Clinical Nurse Specialist Master's or Doctorate degree in the clinical specialty area in which they practice from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. (Required) Minimum Work Experience 0 years Minimum of 0 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Strong knowledge of clinical specialty and services. Demonstrates clinical leadership skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required Licenses and Certifications Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Nurse Practitioner 1. Licensure in the state(s) of clinical practice 2. CDS in state(s) of clinical practice 3. DEA (Required) Or Physician Assistant 1. Licensure in the state(s) of clinical practice 2. CDS in state(s) of clinical practice 3. DEA (Required) Or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Clinical Nurse Specialist 1. Licensure in the state(s) of clinical practice If prescribing controlled substances: 2. CDS in state(s) of clinical practice 3. DEA (Required) Or (Required) . Nurse Practitioner 1. Active national certification with governing body such as PNCB, ANCC, or AANPCB 2. BLS certification (Required) Physician Assistant 1. Active national certification with NCCPA 2. BLS certification (Required) Clinical Nurse Specialist 1. Active national certification as a clinical nurse specialist by the ANCC 2.
