Bowman Gray Stadium seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Scoreboard Operator.

The Scoreboard Operator is responsible for managing and displaying race-related information, including lap times, race positions, and other pertinent data on the scoreboard.This position will partner with the Communications Coordinator, Broadcasters, and Sponsorship Sales to assist with the run of show and ensure that accurate sponsor information is displayed on the scoreboard each week.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Utilize scoreboard software and control systems to display relevant race information, including lap times, race positions, driver names, and any other data required during events.

  • Keep track of race activities, including laps completed, pit stops, and any incidents or penalties incurred by participants. Update the scoreboard accordingly to provide real-time information to spectators and race officials.

  • Communicate closely with timing officials to ensure accurate timing data is received and displayed correctly on the scoreboard. Verify timing information and make adjustments as necessary to maintain accuracy.

  • Monitor scoreboard equipment for any malfunctions or technical issues. Troubleshoot problems promptly and effectively, coordinating with technical support or maintenance staff as needed to resolve issues and minimize disruptions to race events.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on scoreboard equipment to ensure optimal performance. Keep equipment clean and properly maintained to extend its lifespan and minimize the risk of technical issues during events.

Required skills/experience:

  • Previous experience operating scoreboard systems, preferably in a sports or motorsports environment.

  • Proficiency with scoreboard software and control systems.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.

  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar
