MANUFACTURING PROCESS ENGINEER

DETROIT, MICHIGAN - CONNER ST. FACILITY

As a member of the manufacturing team, the Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing process strategies, managing process resources, optimizing current processes, and maintaining process documents.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Demonstrate the ability to work safely and effectively while supporting the safety goals of the Plant.
  • Advise management of product conformance, capability issues, and provide fact-based recommendations for improvement and problem resolution.
  • Optimize processes, shorten cycle times, improve quality, reduce energy losses, shorten downtimes, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Confirm system and product capabilities by designing and conducting feasibility studies and testing methods and properties.
  • Manage subcontractors who aid in the designing, construction, and implementation of projects.
  • Write capital expenditure approval documents and secure funding for projects, while providing data for justification.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing process information and trends.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with regulations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Author, review and validate SOPs/WIs for new processes.
  • Work on the production floor with employees to train, root cause concerns, and assist in implementing corrective actions.


The Hour-by-Hour Task Breakdown with Percentages:



  • Working on the production floor to support launch and operations (60%)
  • Collecting, analyzing, and preparing data to implement optimizations and corrective actions (30%)
  • Writing and training employees to SOPs/Wis/and other documentation (10%)



Your Qualifications:



  • BS Degree in a related field: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, 5+ years of professional experience
  • Development of assembly processes for electrical component products.
  • Experience work with various engineering software (AutoCAD/Draftsight, Solidworks, Simulation Experience, Minitab, Microsoft Suite)
  • Engineering/process change control.
  • Experience with Control Plans, PFMEA's, and APQP
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Able to embrace Industry 4.0 principles, experience with automation.
  • Ability to develop and document clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.



Bonus If You Have:



  • Experience in the automotive industry or electrical component manufacturing
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • New Product Launch Experience
