Scope of Work:

The Cost Accountant will prepare and record journal entries for month-end close, balance, and analyze general ledger accounts. Research variances between budget in actual for the sale and gross profit accounts. Create and balance book inventory reports. Prepare schedules monthly on various accounts. Provides support by assisting in the maintenance of parts inventory price files with manufacturer-supplied price tapes.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

The Cost Accountant is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the following:



  • Record monthly journal entries for the month-end closing process.
  • Assist in Unit Month End Sales and Validations including review of Retail Sales Worksheets
  • Work with Product Analysts to verify price files and assist in file maintenance.
  • Assist in new part additions and updates to existing parts.
  • Analyze and report on various general ledger account balances.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Rental equipment files pertaining to LKE filings.
  • Assist in the calculation and recording of Capitalized Freight Expenses.
  • Analyzing sales and gross profit accounts during the month-end close.
  • Prepare and balance Unit inventory reports.
  • Assist branches in balancing inventory accounts to the trial balance.
  • Assist in recording vendor rebates.
  • Provide support for yearly audits.
  • Responsible for recording and tracking all documents relating to the physical inventories.
  • Complete all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with the supervisor.
  • Provide support for branch personnel and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.


Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



  • Knowledge of cost accounting procedures and practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions to accurately process, provide, and implement accounting information
  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Advance knowledge of personal computer applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) to facilitate accounting operations.
